New Rites

New Rites is a collaborative project between Ignasi Casas and Andrés Bravo spanning between 2017 and 2018. The project was structured in four major collective crafting events that crystallized in a book in 2019. Using traditional celebrations as an excuse to gather their family and friends, they challenged their guests to transcend the celebration itself and to create something new.

The universe presented in the book explores the idea of the creation of new traditions (New Rites) through parties that generate new imagery. Although the outcome presented in the book is a collection of crafts generated during these events, the book is not an inventory. It is instead a visual manifesto of the authors musings on topics of tradition, craft and belonging.
